The Diary

COCKTAIL PARTY MUSICI was introduced to cocktails before beer. Tonight we each bought a bottle of wine and mingled as if it was a cocktail party. The secret is to stand close to someone else's conversation. Eventually you'd be included, if you were listening. Tonight the musicians among us played. Others stood around the piano either praising us or trying to turn pages. We didn't care about the audience. We were engaged in the music. We played for ourselves. And we discovered a soprano in the making. I witnessed for the first time, my music being sightread by that same talented soprano. |
