GRANDMA'S HEARING AID

I received this from my father yesterday, an account of a conversation my grandma had with the sales lady who wanted to test her new hearing aid.

Sales lady:

Nai nai, I want to invite you for coffee.

Grandma:

No need, I have instant coffee in my bedroom.

Sales lady:

I'll take you to the park for a walk.

Grandma:

Don't bother. My housemaid can take me there. The park is just opposite.

Sales lady:

I'll treat you to a good dinner.

Grandma:

You're so kind. How can I let you foot the bill?

Sales lady:

I can take you to karaoke to sing songs.

Grandma:

I went there only once. Last month my daughter took me there, but I didn't sing.

Sales lady:

I'll take you to a movie. Yes, let's go see a good movie.

Grandma:

These days I watch movies on TV. But you are really very kind.

The sales lady did say she wanted to test the new hearing aid, but Grandma obviously did not hear that part. So the dialogue went on with Grandma's facial expression showing exactly what she believed the sales lady meant.

Sadly not all grandmothers can see their daughters. Here is first draft of a piece for my friend Patty's mother and her grandchildren:
