The Diary
|
THE DAY AFTERI wasn't as anxious as before - about getting people to help me clear and clean up. After the last guests left, I proceeded to wash all the wine glasses, plates, utensils, pots, and pans. After I was 85% done, I went to bed at 3 am. This morning the telephone woke me up at 11:30 am. I went back to sleep. I was tired, but at peace. It occurred to me, as I went to bed last night, that I had forgotten all my worries during the party. I was so focussed on making it a good party that I completely forgot about work and other issues. Today, instinctively, I went to my piano and tried to arrange a popular tune for piano duet and trumpet. I had promised my friends in Germany that I would do this. This afternoon I went to my next door neighbours for a barbeque in the rain. I saw their guests standing outside with umbrellas. These were the new neighbours who took over the previous bad neighbours last summer. I had been too busy to even visit them. It's nice to be hosted - and just be a guest, finally! |
