BACK TO BACK MEETINGSThe day started at 9 am in the west of town with consultants. An hour and a half later, we were driving downtown for an appointment at 11 am with a trading company. We met with three others for lunch - emerging technology. We made the 1:45 pm meeting on time. In ten minutes, we walked to the next building for our 2:30 pm meeting. Finally, we caught our sixth meeting at 3:45 pm. I've been told that it takes half a day to schedule meetings for one day. I couldn't possibly be scheduling meetings while I'm holding meetings. But there's also a lead time between scheduling and holding one. In my first job, I once ambitiously scheduled seven fifty minute meetings in one day. By the end of the day, my contact lenses popped out from staring so hard. After seven cups of coffee, I could not sleep a wink. I'm once again falling into the same trap of optimisation, wanting to schedule meetings back to back. If I'm not careful, this will break my back! |
