The Diary of Anne Ku18 July 2000 Tuesday MY BLUE SILK JACKET I can't even remember when I bought this jacket. The label says "New York," but I distinctly remember it was in London, perhaps Bond Street. It is a dark silk jacket that I could wear with anything - and still looked professional. My wardrobe is a skewed distribution. My favourite clothes are worn again and again. The probability that a certain piece of clothing gets worn given that it has been worn before is much higher than if it has never been worn. Let me see. If I had purchased it in Bond Street, then it must be about ten years old. Yet it doesn't look it, especially after it's been freshly dry cleaned. I suddenly miss this jacket. Where is it? Did I leave it in the car? The Chinese restaurant? My friend's palace of a house? Their swimming pool? I woke up after a restless night of trying to find this favourite jacket. At last! I must have left it in the car and not locked the back seat overnight! So I saved the valet parking of $7.50. But my jacket! poor jacket - it was priceless in my memory! |
20 August 2000 I had jotted down my thoughts of the day during my travels. Now that I've FINALLY unpacked and cleaned up my room, I found these notes. So I will now "back-fill" my on-line diary. |
