CREATION NOT RE-CREATION

In an interview with the classical radio station K ARTS, the composer Robert Avalon said that we are obsessed with performance and interpretation. Composition is not part of a typical music curriculum.

In the past, performers played music of composers alive in their day. How many composers are alive today? How many people know how to compose?

To create is to be human. That is the purpose of my web site. Self-expression is the highest form of creativity. So often we re-create rather than create. Where did originality go? Am I one of the few who create for fun? I compose not because I want to, but because I need to. The music flows like some mathematical equation that needs to be solved - and resolved. It simply flows.
