IN SEARCH OF THE PERFECT HOTEL

After calling the front desk and security guards four times in one night, I could not believe that the hotel management was so useless. The adjoining room next door had at least half a dozen guests and partied all night long. Losing sleep was one thing, but facing the possibility of another sleepless night was just too much.

I wandered down the road in search of another hotel. There were many hotels in this area. I started thinking about the positive attributes of the places I had stayed before.

Manhattan HotelPositiveNegative
Crown Plaza, Broadway
  • centre of everything
  • corner rooms always nicer
  • high floor always better
  • excellent sauna and steam room
  • too ritzy (reception)
  • must wear cap in swimming pool
  • no piano for me to play
Millenium Hilton
  • very bright: wall to wall windows
  • fantastic views
  • lovely pool, never crowded
  • lots of mirrors
  • no adjoining rooms
  • next to Century 21 dept store
  • grand piano
  • sauna doesn't work very well
  • no steam room
Sheraton Manhattan

  • small rooms
  • expensive in comparison
  • air conditioning didn't work well
  • no pool
Holiday Inn Broadway
  • higher ceilings than others due to old building
  • close to Penn Station
  • very busy with tourists
  • not much light, small windows
  • no pool or piano

I had jotted down my thoughts of the day during my travels. Now that I've FINALLY unpacked and cleaned up my room, I found these notes. So I will now "back-fill" my on-line diary.
